Lennon, Gordon

Dumbarton FC captain Gordon Lennon died on Sunday after he was involved in a tragic accident. The 26-year-old new dad, who proudly led the Sons to the Third Division Championship last month, was on a family break near Inverness. The captain, nicknamed Guido, had been brought to the club by manager Jim Chapman, who had been his previous boss at Albion Rovers, where the player started his career. Jim described his captain as “the salt of the earth” in a heartfelt tribute to the promising defender. Gordon leaves behind son Kai, fiancee Kelly Dempsey, mum Silvana, dad Alex, brothers Scott, 24 and Buchan 20, and sister Heather, 19. Fans have set-up an online memorial site for a player they are already calling “a legend”. Leave a message in our online book of condolences.
