An renowned independent music studio in Dumbarton is teaming up with one of the world’s leading electronic dance labels to provide a free, educational one-day event in Glasgow.

Skapade Studios which is based in Castlegreen Street, is working with Soma Records and others such as successful Scottish music production studio “Shoogle Studios” to bring back ‘Soma Skool’ on March 31 after a nine year hiatus.

Soma Records is a Glasgow-based techno and house label co-founded in 1991 by the electronic music duo Slam, who have released over 500 singles and 100 albums from international acts such as Slam, Silicone Soul, Funk D’Void, Alex Under, Gary Beck, Pig and Dan, Vector Lover, the Black Dog and many more. They are also known for signing enigmatic superstars Daft Punk 20 years ago.

Soma Skool, which will take place at SWG3 Glasgow is billed as a fresh and dynamic approach to learning about the electronic music industry and is aimed at people 16 plus looking to learn about the music and creative industries and talk to professionals in their fields.

Those who attend can hear discussions and career advice from diverse and forward-thinking professionals currently in events, journalism, production, performance, sound and light engineering, digital live streaming and record labels.

At the event there will be industry panels, demos and stalls from Skapade Studios, Shoogle Studios, BBC Radio Scotland , Be-At TV, Mixmag, LuckyMe and many more.

Also lined up are multiple DJ classes and Ableton Live music production classes by qualified teachers and the opportunity to walk up and try interactive stalls with the latest software, hardware and DJ equipment.

A number of artists will feature at the event including Slam, Surgeon and Regis aka British Murder Boys, I Hate Models, Solid Blake, Auntie Flo, Jonny Wilkes, Happy Meals and Stephanie Sykes with more still to be announced.

Skapade Studios said they are delighted to play a big part in the return of this huge event and happy to continue community work with such big partners.
