THOUSANDS of pupils across Dumbarton and the Vale are due to receive their exam results tomorrow (Tuesday).
Nationally, around 135,000 SQA exam certificates will drop through letterboxes on August 7.
Martin Docherty-Hughes, West Dunbartonshire MP, said: “Best of luck to all pupils in Dumbarton, Clydebank and the Vale of Leven for exam results day.
“It can be a nervous time, especially for those who don’t get the results they’d been hoping for.
“There’s no need to panic though; whatever happens there’s a wide range of options for what to do next.”
No matter what grades are on that sheet of paper, teenagers are being reminded that there is expert help and advice on hand from Skills Development Scotland (SDS) helpline.
For anyone who is disappointed with their results, or did better than expected, careers advisers will be on the line to offer information and support to young people and their parents on applying for vacancies at colleges and universities through clearing, as well as advice on apprenticeships, employment and volunteering.
Jackie Baillie, Dumbarton MSP, added: “This time of year can be really difficult for many young people who are waiting on their exam results.
“Inevitably some people may narrowly miss out on the results that they need for college or university and others may do better than expected, but whatever the result there is no need to panic.
“The SDS helpline is available to all young people and will allow them to talk through their options and provide advice to anyone who needs it.”
Last year, 98 per cent of pupils sitting exams across the region achieved a pass, with an 81 per cent pass rate in one or more exams at Advanced Higher, and 85 per cent of Higher students recording one or more passes.
At the National 5 level, 88 per cent of candidates passed one or more exams, with a 98 per cent rate at National 4 level.
The SDS helpline is 0808 100 8000 and is open from 8am on results day.
