TRAINS to and from Dumbarton and the Vale have been suspended due to flooding as heavy rain sweeps across Scotland.

ScotRail says services on the Balloch-Airdrie and Helensburgh-Edinburgh routes are not able to run west of Dalmuir due to heavy rain flooding the railway at Bowling and Craigendoran.

The company says that an emergency timetable is being implemented and that replacement buses are being requested, with further details to follow via Twitter.

A Met Office yellow warning for heavy rain is in place across central and southern Scotland until 2pm on Friday.

Dumbarton and Vale of Leven Reporter:

A second Met Office yellow warning, this one for snow and ice and covering an area from Loch Lomond to the north and west Highlands, is in place until 9pm on Friday.
