AN 82 year-old woman has died after being involved in a fatal road accident in Alexandria.
It's understood the incident took place at around 5pm on Sunday when the pensioner crossed the road on Bank Street, just south of Susannah Street.
She was struck by a red Audi A3, travelling southbound and later died in hospital.
The 48 year-old driver of the Audi was uninjured.
The road was closed for eight hours as crash scene investigators conducted enquiries at the scene.
Police Scotland is appealing for any information in relation to the tragedy.
Sergeant Paul MacPherson, Dumbarton Police Office, said: "We would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed the incident to please get in touch.
"Anyone with information can contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Dumbarton via 101, quoting incident number 2856 of 19 November 2017."
Officers are also appealing to other motorists who were travelling along Bank Street, Alexandria to contact them.
