Christie Park Primary School pupils donned 1940s attire and threw a VE Day 'street party’ to celebrate the end of their World War II topic.
After learning all about this period of history, family, friends, veterans and residents from Erskine Hospital joined the pupils as they got into the full swing of the era, singing and reciting poetry just as they may have done on the momentous day on May 8, 1945.
A great afternoon was had by all, with local jive group ‘Jumpin Jive’ also performing and wowing the audience with their moves.
Elizabeth Campbell, principal teacher, said: “The children enjoyed organising this event using their leadership skills in a real life context.
“It brought their learning to life when they stepped back in time to experience life as a child during the war years.”
