WEST Dunbartonshire’s Labour members have unanimously reselected Jean Anne Mitchell as their candidate for the next Westminster election.
The Dumbarton and Clydebank Constituency Labour parties met at the Concorde Centre in Dumbarton for a hustings on Friday and chose Ms Mitchell.
She stood against the SNP’s Martin Docherty-Hughes in the snap election last year but lost by 2,200 votes. The majority two years earlier had been more than 14,000.
Ms Mitchell said in a statement: “I look forward to reaching out to every corner of West Dunbartonshire and demonstrating my unquestionable commitment to the people and businesses within our community.”
She said she had written shortly afterwards to West Dunbartonshire Council chief executive Joyce White over the collapse of Greenlight Environmental last month.
