THERE'S plenty of action going on behind the curtains as a Dumbarton-based theatre group prepares to showcase the work of a new local writer in their upcoming production.
Dumbarton People’s Theatre (DPT) will run Secondary Chances – the first play from the pen of Dumbarton man Ally Priestley – next month, to open up their 74th season.
Ally had previously entered a playwriting contest at DPT – and very quickly caught the bug.

His brand new comedy delves the audience into a school reunion.
In the play, various characters reflect on their lives – with hilarious results.
The large cast is currently rehearsing three times a week, under the expert direction of Helen Watt, at their studio on Glasgow Road, Dumbarton.
Ally told the Reporter he’s really enjoyed working with the DPT members, who have previously staged shows such as J.B Priestley’s classic mystery Dangerous Corner and Little Women.
And he’s also signed up to collaborate with the group’s pantomime scriptwriting team, already hard at work to produce a special Dumbarton adaptation of Freezin.

Secondary Chances will run at the Denny Civic Theatre, Dumbarton, from Wednesday, October 3 to Saturday, October 6, with curtain up at 7.30pm.
Auditions for the annual DPT pantomime will take place on October 9, with showtime from December 8 to December 15.
