A boy has died in hospital after cops were called to a wooded area near to a primary school.
Emergency services raced to Christie Park in Alexandria, less than 200 yards from Christie Park Primary, at around 12.35pm after a member of the public requested assistance.
The victim, only described as a male youth, was found at the scene and taken from the park to hospital.
Eyewitnesses describe several police cars in the surrounding streets, as well as forensic officers scouring the area just after 3pm, as the area was quickly taped off by cops.
It has now been confirmed that the young victim died in hospital.
Police Scotland told our sister title, the Evening Times, they are currently treating the death as unexplained, and inquiries are ongoing.
A spokeswoman said: "Emergency services attended at Christie Park in Alexandria at 12.34pm on Saturday after a member of the public requested assistance.
“A male youth was taken to hospital, where he has subsequently died. The death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing."
