Dumbarton's MSP has been backed by one of the country's biggest unions in her bid to become Scottish Labour's deputy leader.
Usdaw came out today (WED) in support of Jackie Baillie.
The retail trade union, which is Labour’s third largest affiliate, wants Ms Baillie to be second in command to Richard Leonard.
Stewart Forrest, Usdaw Scottish divisional officer, said: “I’ve worked with Jackie for many years and she has been a consistent, committed and effective campaigner on behalf of our members and working people across the country.
"She has championed our members’ issues and I’m proud that we are backing her to be Scottish Labour’s next deputy leader.”
Usdaw (Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers) is the UK's fifth biggest and the fastest growing trade union with over 400,000 members.
Paddy Lillis, Usdaw general secretary, added: “Jackie has the national profile and skills to take Scottish Labour’s message into every community across Scotland. I look forward to working with her as an effective champion for Scottish Labour and working people.”
