A POLICE appeal to trace a woman in connection with an assault outside Dumbarton's Burgh bar has received thousands of comments online after the images were compared to the horror film The Exorcist.
The post, which was added to Argyll & West Dunbartonshire's Police Division Facebook page on Sunday morning, has now received more than 1,300 comments in less than 24 hours.
Here are some of the funniest:
Säint Müsa: "Awww, her. Yeah, I’ve seen her a lot. Especially in my nightmares, she’s usually standing at the end of my bed."
Stephen McGlaughlin: "Dumbarton has a few of them creatures, good luck."
Lauren O'Neill: "Have you tried summoning her?"
Michelle O'Hara: "The power of Christ compels you."
Shaun Flanagan: "I think it's the Ghostbusters you need to call."
However, the seriousness of the incident must be remembered.
Tom Sutherland, son of the victim of the assault, commented: "Been reading some of these comments really have made me giggle, but on a more serious note the victim to this horrible attack was my 65 year old mum and it was shocking what happened to her. So if anyone with information please ring the numbers above, thank you."
Police Scotland is appealing for any information regarding the incident, which took place around 1.05am on September 1, last year. They are also asking anyone who recognises the woman to make contact via 101, quoting reference number 2865 of September 1, 2019.
Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800555111, where anonymity can be maintained.
