AN ALEXANDRIA woman has scooped the top prize in a photography competition run by the Loch Lomond Shores shopping complex.
Last month, the operators of the Balloch facility called on all landscaped and nature-focused amateur photographers to submit a photograph taken at the popular local resort, and with nearly 100 entries the competition has been considered a success.
Yunzi Ahmet of Alexandria won the adult competition with a vibrant and colourful image of the area.
Yunzi is a future dentistry student and has received a £200 voucher for Loch Lomond leisure to use on water and paddle sports, as well as an annual family season ticket to the The Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre.
In the child competition, 12-yearold Feorlin won with a close-up photograph and will receive 2 child tickets for Treezone, as well as Bird of Prey Centre entry for the whole family.
As of yet, the competition holders have been unable to contact Feorlin and are asking them to get in touch.
Kathryn Angel from Sea Life Loch Lomond, one of the competition judges, said: “The standard of entries was really high, and this made our job as judges truly difficult.
“We wish we could have had many more winners but after much discussion we unanimously agreed on the eventual winners who we thought were outstanding.
Audrey Calder from Loch Lomond Shores added: “Firstly, a huge thanks to those who took part and submitted such fantastic images.
“We hoped that the competition would inspire people and also illustrate the uniqueness of Loch Lomond Shores with our beaches, woodland and stunning views and we were delighted that the entries did just that.
“A gallery of the shortlisted entries can be found on the Loch Lomond Shores website and, depending on future government guidelines, we hope to host an exhibition of the shortlisted entries in our mall later in December and January.”
The competition was judged by Paul Saunders Photography and representatives from the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and Sea Life Loch Lomond.
