A VALE teenager is releasing a song in aid of raising money for the Robin House children’s hospice in Balloch.
Jack Mullen, 15, is releasing his latest song, “Be Inspired”, to help Children’s Hospices Across Scotland.
He told the Reporter: “I was planning to work on a new song a couple of months ago, but at the same time I was thinking of other ways I could raise money for Robin House, so I decided to use the song to do that.
“I have been volunteering in the gardens at Robin House since I was a young boy and they have been a big part of my charity work over the years.
“The song is dedicated to the children and the staff there.
“The aim is to highlight how amazing the place and everybody that works there is and hopefully raise awareness of the work that they do for others.
“The journey has been quite personal to me and there have been a few rewrites to make sure it is perfect.
“The inspiration of the front cover of the song was from the back gardens of the hospice as it is beautiful.
“Sitting there and looking at the plants and flowers really makes you at peace and I knew I wanted that for my song.”
The Vale of Leven Academy pupil recently won two prestigious awards for the musical work he did for the community during pandemic.
Jack and his singing partner Alfie King were recently named Young Scots of the Year for their performances outside care homes and to neighbours in Dumbarton and the Vale to try and lift the spirits of people who were stuck indoors shielding during the Covid lockdown.
The pair also won the Unsung Heroes of the Year prize at the Young Scot award ceremony, which was held virtually because of the pandemic.
Jack added: “This song is just about raising as much money as it can for Robin House.
“I am planning to do a music video in the back gardens with some of the staff .
"I am still working on it at the moment, but the aim is to release it soon.”
Jack’s mum Charlene added: “He has worked really hard.
“He is determined to get this right for everyone at the hospice as the charity means a lot to him.
"It is full steam ahead for him now.”
Once released, the song will be available to purchase on Spotify, iTunes and Amazon Music.
