Skygazers across Dumbarton and the rest of the country have been treated to a rare sight of a partial solar eclipse.
The eclipse, which happens when the moon passes over the sun, occurred this morning (Thursday, June 10).
And despite a cloudy morning, Dumbarton photographer Gerry Doherty was able to snap a few shots of the event which only happens every one or two years.
In a total eclipse, the disk of the sun is fully obscured by the moon. In partial and annular eclipses, only part of the sun is obscured.
