BALLOCH swimmer Ross Murdoch has seen his dreams of Olympic glory dashed at the semi-final stage in Japan.
The 27-year-old finished in a tie for fifth place in the first 200m breastsroke semi-final at the Toky Aquatics Centre on Wednesday.
Murdoch, the 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, posted a time of two minutes and 9.97 seconds - two hundredths slower than his time in Tuesday's heats, and 1.21 seconds outside the slowest qualifying time for the final.
Glasgow-born James Wilby will fly the flag for Team GB in Thursday's final after finishing in second place in Wednesday's second semi-final in a time of 2:07:91.
