A BIG-HEARTED Dumbarton contact centre is to renew a charity initiative that has already seen it give £14,000 to good causes in West Dunbartonshire.
Since December 2020, Opos Ltd has selected an employee of the month to receive a £1,000 donation gifted to a charity of their choice.
Good causes so far include Dumbarton District Women’s Aid, West Dunbartonshire Community Food Share, The Schiehallion Play Fund and Erskine Homeless Unit.
Now, after the success of the scheme, Opos have decided to continue the commitment for a further 12 months.
Employee Ashleigh Black said: “It’s a good thing to be doing as a business. That’s one of the main reasons we’ve looked to continue it, and also the boost it’s given to employees to continue helping out.”
One charity that received an Opos donation recently wrote to the contact centre thanking them, saying: “On behalf of our organisation and the families who access our service I would like to send another very special thanks. With £1,000.00 we will be able to help 11 families feel safer and more confident.”
Managing director Scott Dawson, who lives locally, took the decision after recognising that local community charities had suffered financial setbacks brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
Ashleigh added: “There has been a bit of a buzz around it and people are excited come the end of the month to find out who’s actually been voted. It is quite competitive.”
Opos, on Meadowbank Street, provides contact centre services to the banking, utility, telecoms and retail finance sectors and employs 62 staff, most of them from Dumbarton.
