A BALLOCH nightclub is toasting its success after reaching the finals of the prestigious Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards.
Desire nightclub on Balloch Road is up for a gong in the Scotland’s Best Late Night Venue category – the only business from the area to reach the finals, which is voted for by the public.
Owner Anne Campbell said: “We are absolutely delighted to be nominated in the category of Best Late Night Venue for the whole of Scotland.
“Desire has prided itself on being a small local nightclub that delivers a great night out for its community and has done this successfully for over 15 years.”
The achievement is particularly significant because for the past two years Desire has been under enforced closure due to Covid-19 restrictions and there were times during this period when it was touch and go as to whether the West Dunbartonshire institution would ever reopen its doors.
It’s set to be a fierce competition with the likes of Glasgow arts and events venue SWG3, Edinburgh’s largest restaurant and bar Brewhemia and Aberdeen staple Revolution battling it out to be crowned winner. Anne added: “It’s amazing that with all the massive players in the late night industry that this little club in Balloch has made it to this point – it is a huge endorsement.
“Whatever happens with the award itself, rest assured we will be having a fantastic party to celebrate the nomination.”
The final of the Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards will take place on May 5 in the Doubletree by Hilton, Cambridge Street, Glasgow.
