AN ALEXANDRIA nursery has been given a glowing first report in a recent visit by inspectors.
Levenvale Primary Nursery Class had an unannounced visit by the Care Inspectorate in April this year.
They gave the facility and service, based in Argyll Street, four top “very good” ratings on their quality of care, environment, staffing including management and leadership.
Despite only being opened since 2019, there were no recommendations or requirements for improvement on any of the four measures.
Inspectors said that “there was strong evidence of child centred, responsive play and a focus on nurture, wellbeing and mindfulness.”
It was also highlighted that “staff were passionate about providing children with quality early learning and childcare. Children were happy and active throughout the inspection, enjoying a balance of adult directed and freely chosen activities which were supporting them to develop key skills.”
It was noted that children attending the facility had access to three large playrooms, which are open to promote free flow play, and two outdoor areas. There is also a woodland area adjacent to the school where children can engage in forest school activities.
The majority of parents and carers commented that the nursery had managed communication well during the pandemic.
One person said: “I cannot express strongly enough what a fantastic learning experience my grandson is getting here.”
Another added: “My child has very supportive relations with all the staff”.
Laura Mason, chief officer of Education, said: “It is very encouraging to see the many highlights in this positive inspection report, which recognises the great work and commitment of the staff within the centre. The report highlights the fantastic job being carried out by the Principal Early Learning and Childcare Officer, their enthusiasm and dedication to the quality learning and safety of the children in their care is to be commended.
“I would like to congratulate everyone at the centre for their part in achieving this great report and the parents and carers for their positive feedback which is much appreciated.”
