Cardross Parish Church’s summer holiday club returned last week for the first time since before the pandemic, and it was back with a splash.
Almost 30 primary school children attended the club which ran from 9.30am-noon from Monday, July 4 through to Sunday, July 10.
The organisers were also assisted by a team of local teenagers who previously attended the summer club when in primary school.
This year’s theme was ‘Professor Potty’s Time Travellers Tales’, with a TARDIS bringing special guests from the Bible to visit.
On each day of the camp, the children split into four teams to take part in stories, as well as getting creative in the arts and crafts sections.
They also took part in games inside and out.
This culminated in a spectacular water fight on the final morning, where Rev Maggie McArthur was dressed for the occasion with an umbrella hat and poncho.
Despite her meticulous preparations, she and fellow leader Judy Wilson still managed to lose the battle and ended up being soaked by the children.
The summer club finished up with a family service, followed by a picnic in the church halls.
Rev Maggie McArthur said: “The week went really well. The children had great fun as did all of us as leaders and helpers.
“It was a privilege to run the club - the children were fantastic.
“We also tied [the theme] in with the world at present and thought about climate change, health issues, the importance of sharing.
“My personal thanks to the families, the leaders and all the helpers.”
