A THREE-MONTH amnesty for West Dunbartonshire residents to hand over soon-to-be-banned weapons to police ends today (Friday, September 30).
More than a dozen weapons are on the list - they are already illegal to have outdoors, but will soon be banned in people's homes as well.
The amnesty period, during which time people can give up weapons on the list anonymously and without further enquiry, ends at 5pm on Friday.
The weapons that will soon become illegal are as follows:
Balisong or butterfly knife
Belt buckle knife
Blowpipe or blow gun
Cyclone knife or Spiral knife
Flick knife or flick gun
Footclaw
Gravity knife
Handclaw
Hollow kubotan
Knuckleduster
Kusari gama
Kyoketsu shoge
Manrikigusari or Kusari push dagger
Shuriken or Shaken or Death Star
Stealth knife
Truncheon or baton
Sword stick
Telescopic truncheon
Zombie knife
West Dunbartonshire residents can hand in weapons on the list at the police stations in Clydebank and Dumbarton.
If you cannot get to a listed police station for accessibility reasons, call 101.
Explain why you’re calling and which listed police station you would like to give up your weapon to.
