West Dunbartonshire Council has paid tribute to the cast and crew of River City - after the BBC Scotland soap marked 20 years of filming in Dumbarton.
The popular soap - best known for characters such as Shellsuit Bob and Lenny Murdoch, as well as providing a launchpad for the careers of dozens of actors and featuring a host of well-known guest stars - has been filmed in the town since it was first broadcast, on the specially-built Gooseholm set, which used to be the former J&B bottling plant.
And Councillor Lawrence O’Neill used a full council meeting on Wednesday, October 26, to recognise the production for two decades of success in the town.
He said: "The important thing to note is that hundreds of contributors take part in this, from the costume and make-up department, production management, sound, special effects, art department and the general electrical, as well as hundreds and hundreds of extras.
"They provide and get services and supplies from the local area and most importantly, some of the topics they have covered are things that we are involved in."
River City has filmed more than 1,200 episodes and is watched by more than 400,000 viewers, with hour-long episodes on Monday and Wednesday nights.
