AN ARREST has been made in connection with the death of a man in Renton.

Charles Wilson, known to the community as Chic, was found in a property in Tontine Park with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services were called to a report of a fire at around 7.25am on Saturday.

After the blaze was extinguished, officers said that Chic's body was discovered inside a bedroom.

As previously reported, the 40-year-old's death is being treated as suspicious and a murder investigation is ongoing, led by detectives from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team.

Police Scotland has since confirmed to the Reporter that an arrest had been made in connection with Chic's death.

A spokeswoman said: "Following an investigation into the death of Charles Wilson in Renton, officers have arrested a 42-year-old man. Enquiries are continuing."

He was last seen alive at around 10.45am on Friday, March 24, by a friend at the flat. 

At the time, Detective Chief Inspector Christopher Thompson said: “Extensive enquiries have been ongoing since the deceased was discovered on Saturday morning.

“Door-to-door enquiries have been carried out and officers continue to gather relevant CCTV footage for any more information that could assist in tracing whoever is responsible for this murder.

“We are also working to establish a motive for this crime and are in the process of piecing together the deceased’s last known movements to find out as much detail as possible on the circumstances surrounding this death.

“Any witnesses, or anyone who holds any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, should get in touch with us."

Tributes have poured in for friends, neighbours and residents, following the news of Charles' death. 

Kevin Milligan said: "R.I.P Charles you'll leave an empty place in my family's heart, we've got great memories to treasure that's for sure."

And Lindsey Rhodes added: "Rip chic. Went all the way thru primary and high school with u. Thoughts n prayers with his family."
