An Old Kilpatrick woman has been recognised for "going above and beyond" at her workplace awards.
Sandra Stewart has worked for Student Loans Company (SLC) for nearly three years as Project Accounting Manager.
She was announced as the winner of the overall Exceptional Leadership Award at the company's 2022/2023 People Star Awards, having been nominated by her team for being an inspiring, visible, and understanding manager who cares for the welfare and progression of her team.
Sandra’s positive attitude was also mentioned in her nomination, giving everyone a ‘can-do’ feeling.
She said: “I was very shocked, especially considering I have not been at SLC all that long. I am very happy that the team feel I support and inspire them - that was a great feeling.
“The project accounting team all work very well together and are a great team to lead, everyone supports and encourages each other.
“The people make SLC a great place to work. The collaboration across teams, and that push to always make things better is something I truly enjoy.”
The awards recognise success and celebrate those who go above and beyond each day to make SLC a great place to work and also deliver outstanding service for their customers.
There were eight award categories at the People Star Awards, including Rising Star, Working Together, Outstanding Customer Experience and Community Star.
Sandra was presented with a certificate and voucher by SLC CEO, Chris Larmer, at the in-person award event this week.
Chris said: “This is my first People Star Awards, and I’m so proud of Sandra and all our winners and nominees across the business. We simply couldn’t support the nation’s students without the dedication of our colleagues so it’s vital to recognise the important impact of this hard work that allows SLC to be a success.”
