Another week and another trip into the past as we delve into the Dumbarton and the Vale archives and take a look at what was going on in the community on days long past.
This week, we picked a paper from May 6, 2008, and there was a lot going on.
From foreign exchange to litter pics, it was all happening and we caught some of it on camera.
Let us know if you spot yourself or anyone you know.
Colourful welcome for teacher
Pupils at Knoxland Primary warmed to Signe, who was on a week’s exchange from her homeland in Denmark.
The Scandinavian teacher helped out in the primary four class at the school and also visited Our Lady and Saint Patrick’s High School and Dumbarton Academy during her stay.
Young Sons fav
Dumbarton midfielder Mark Canning was the Young Sons' choice for their Dumbarton Player of the Year in a season to forget down at the Rock.
Fun on the water
School pupils made a splash after winning this day of exciting outdoor challenges.
The kids took to Loch Lomond in canoes after doing some team-building activities, including raft building, earlier in the day.
P6 and P7 pupils from St Kessog’s Primary, Balloch, were the lucky bunch who went on the activity break last week.
The school won the trip during the Loch Lomond Get Active Festival in September 2007, which included a one-night stay at Loch Lomond Youth Hostel.
Kind kids
Two sets of litter-tackling school pupils joined forces to clean up areas beside the River Leven.
The primary three pupils from St Mary’s and Bonhill primary schools united as part of Friendship Week to spruce up the riverside, beside the River Leven in Alexandria.
The kids were provided with fluorescent jackets, gloves and litter picks from the council and collected several bags of waste.
Flag award
St Patrick’s in Dumbarton was been awarded a Green Flag after its good work in trying to improve the environment.
The flag is the highest award a school can receive under the Eco-Schools programme, which aims to raise environmental awareness among pupils.
The Reporter’s photographer went along to see these happy pupils with their teacher Miss Willett for the launch of the flag which they worked hard to achieve throughout the school year.
Approaching the 'big school'
Primary seven pupils are getting ready to go off to secondary school.
These primary seven pupils got set for their final days of primary.
