Two primary pupils in Dumbarton have been named the sports stars of the month.
Holly McCafferty and James Draycott, both from St. Michael's Primary School were nominated as Active Schools West Dunbartonshire’s Young Sport Stars of the month for May.
Holly is a highly motivated and enthusiastic team member during all P.E lessons and a keen member of the St. Michael’s Netball Team.
She recently participated in the West Dunbartonshire Leisure cross-country competition at Balloch Park and regularly takes part in the Levengrove parkrun with her Dad and brother at the weekend.
Holly also attends weekly local dance lessons out with school and during the summer months is a regular visitor to Kirktonhill Tennis Club alongside her brother where she enjoys participating in this sport.
And James is an outstanding team member who shows enthusiasm and leadership skills in all sporting activities. At the recent schools cross country competition, he achieved third place in the Primary 4 to 5 category and was the 1st Primary 4 to cross the line.
James has recently been selected as a member of the St. Michael’s school football team, showing excellent sportsmanship and teamwork and also plays for the Renton Craigandro 2014 youth team where he trains twice a week and plays matches each weekend.
As a keen member of the School Sports Committee, James shares his passion for sport with others and is very inspiring.
Active Schools is looking for members of the public to help young people across West Dunbartonshire get more active more often.
