When a Dumbarton DJ was lined up to play in a music festival

1. Field Marshal in pipe dreamland

Some of the biggest prizes in piping were contested as 125 pipe bands and 44 drum majors participated in the Scottish Pipe Band Championships in front of a 25,000-strong crowd.

2. Women's choir taking a Loch Lomond boating trip

After impressing the Loch Lomond crowds with a series of ballads, the West of Scotland Military Wives Choir celebrated by boarding the Maid of The Loch.

3. Summer camps are a huge success

Youngsters throughout Dumbarton and the Vale enjoyed their summer breaks from school and nursery. They were kept busy with the Active Schools Ready Steady Go and multi-sport summer camps trying a range of sports, testing their speed, agility and skill across a range of disciplines.

4. Folk flock to Balloch for festival fun

The Moss O’Balloch was transformed as festival-goers took in performances across a variety of stages at the annual Loch Lomond Folk Festival. Some big names in the world of Scottish traditional music, including Wolfstone, Shooglenifty and the JSD band took to the stages at the Balloch venue.

5. Sun is shining as 15,000 turn up to Highland Games

With the event boasting a triathlon, the Scottish Highland Games Association, World Heavyweight Championship and the 80-metre Scottish Sprint Championship, visitors were in for a treat.

For the first time in two years, the games went ahead as the weather forced organisers to cancel the previous year.

6. Dumbarton DJ lined up for music festival

James Slaven had been DJing since his early teens under the name Slave and announced he was closing the In The Woods festival which was held on Waulkmill Farm in Charlestown, Fife.
