PLANS to demolish a former pub for new flats in Alexandria have been submitted.
Design Technical Architecture has lodged an application with West Dunbartonshire Council (WDC) seeking permission to demolish The Stables Bar and Restaurant on Carrochan Road.
The application, which is awaiting a decision from council officials, lists plans to build a block of 15 flats over three floors and associated car parking.
The former pub opened in the area in the 1960s before introducing food in the 1970s.
In the application, it states that the family-owned business was let out in August 2019 on a three-year lease, but was forced to take back the lease in October 2022 due to Covid and other financial issues.
The building has been permanently shut since.
The flats would consist of a mix of two and three bedrooms accessed from two separate communal stairwells. There will also be two disabled parking spaces to the front.
At present, there is a demolition warrant in place and the applicants are awaiting for the utilities to be disconnected.
There has only been one objection to the plans from a local resident highlighting concerns over the flats affecting the loss of morning sunlight in nearby gardens.
