A COUNCILLOR has slammed "mindless" louts who targeted a Dumbarton park over the weekend.
We previously reported that three youths entered Levengrove Park at around 10.30pm on Saturday before torching three bins near the Pavillion Cafe.
A West Dunbartonshire Council (WDC) spokesperson confirmed graffiti was also discovered on the Pavillion Cafe building.
Police Scotland said the damage totals over £2,000.
David McBride, councillor for Dumbarton, said: "I completely condemn this type of behavior which could have caused significant damage to our beautiful park.
"The police are investigating this matter and I would ask anyone with information to report it to them on 101, quoting incident number 20230910-1134, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
A WDC spokesperson added: "We are extremely disappointed by mindless fire-raising and graffiti in Levengrove Park which took place over the weekend.
"As well as graffiti on the Pavillion Cafe building, fires were set in three bins in the park causing significant damage and putting the whole park and its facilities at risk.
"This type of vandalism is not only very dangerous but also uses up significant council resources as we assess the damage and pay for repairs."
