BALLOCH library is set to be relocated to a local primary school early next year.
West Dunbartonshire Council confirmed work to move the facility to within Balloch Campus is set to begin in the coming months.
In a letter sent to parents, carers, and guardians, of pupils at the school the local authority notes continuing the current library provision amid “ongoing financial pressures” as the reason for the move.
Measures will be put in place to ensure pupil safety including the self-enclosed library having its own entrance with users accessing the library from the reception opposite the office of Balloch Primary.
Visitors will also not be able to access the school.
The letter goes on to add that the new space will not open before 9.30am so as to avoid peak times with neighbouring educational establishments and to minimise disruption.
It will offer similar services to the current Balloch Library including books for children and adults, audiobooks on CD, and free computer and internet access.
A WDC spokesperson said: “Balloch Library is relocating to a self-enclosed space within Balloch Campus and parents and carers have been made aware of the plans for this.
“Pupil safety is always our priority and as such secure entry will be maintained at the school, meaning visitors to the library will have no access to any areas within the school.”
