The founder of an Old Kilpatrick foodbank admits she and her team were left "gobsmacked" after receiving a £25,000 funding boost thanks to residents winning the lottery.
Maureen Cummings and her Old Kilpatrick Food Parcels (OKFP) volunteers were toasting the unexpected windfall which came about after residents living on nearby Oronsay Crescent won the People's Postcode Lottery last week.
Fifteen neighbours shared a £1 million jackpot following G60 5NN being drawn from the weekly Millionaire Street prize on Saturday, November 25.
And Maureen and co were quick to thank the lucky locals for giving them the opportunity to gain some much-needed cash as they bid to renovate their new home at the village's Napier Hall.
She said: "We were gobsmacked to discover that we have been awarded this money and it will go straight towards the ongoing refurbishment of Napier Hall.
"Thank you to all the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, we are very grateful for your support."
The job of restoring Napier Hall is estimated to cost the charity around £300,000 with the OKFP aiming to move from their current hub on Station Road in the new year.
