Fire chiefs believe a fire at a Vale library started in the kitchen.
The blaze at Alexandria Library occurred just after 1.30 pm on Thursday, December 7 as the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) raced to the scene.
Two fire engines helped extinguish the flames before securing the area.
No casualties were reported.
An SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.34 pm on Thursday, 7 December, to reports of a building fire at Gilmour Street, Alexandria.
“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene where firefighters worked hard to extinguish a fire affecting a kitchen area.
“No casualties were reported, and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
West Dunbartonshire Council told the Reporter it was a "small fire" on the upper floor of the library, with the site set to reopen on Monday.
A WDC spokesperson said: "There was a small fire within the kitchen area of the staff room on the upper floor of Alexandria Library.
"The fire was self-contained and quickly extinguished.
"The remainder of the Library is unaffected and we will be open as normal on Monday."
