AN OAP who was found with indecent images of children on his computer has been put on the sex offenders register for almost three years.
Duncan McAdam, of Gartocharn in West Dunbartonshire, previously pleaded guilty to possession of indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children at a property in Fernlea, Bearsden.
The offence happened between October 26, 2019 and June 30, 2020.
At Dumbarton Sheriff Court on January 23, McAdam's defence counsel said his 77-year-old client was a first offender and was previously of "good character".
The KC said: "He has already been subject for 14 months to many of the requirements of his bail. He has complied with the rest of the conduct requirements.
"There is no reason why he could not do some unpaid work. He is in my lordship's hands in terms of the appropriate disposal."
Sheriff William Gallacher said: "You appear to me as someone who has not offended before.
"You have been subject to conditions for a considerable period of time.
"The offence you pleaded guilty to was a very serious one. I can deal with this without imposing a custodial sentence."
He imposed a community payback order with 30 months of supervision by social workers. He will be subject to a number of restrictions such as not have unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16 and monitoring of any electronic devices.
McAdam will be on the sex offenders register for 30 months.
His computer and mobile phone were forfeited.
