FIREBUGS torched a building in Dumbarton in broad daylight, say police.
Emergency services responded to a property in the Whiteford Avenue area of Bellsmyre after the alarm was raised at around 4.10pm on Monday.
Firefighters worked to tackle the flames and eventually extinguished the blaze.
It is understood there are no reported injuries.
Police confirmed they are investigating this incident and are treating the fire as 'deliberate'.
Enquiries are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.10pm on Monday, February 19, 2024, we were called to a report of a fire at a property in Whiteford Avenue, Dumbarton.
"Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).
"There are no reported injuries. The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing."
An SFRS spokesperson added: “We were alerted at 5.21pm on Monday, February 19, to reports of a fire within a building on Whiteford Avenue, Dumbarton.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene to extinguish the fire affecting the top floor of a derelict building.
“There were no reported casualties. Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
