A POPULAR local business will close its doors for good next month, it has been confirmed.
Bosses at Bowling Shop & Snack announced the business will shut permanently on March 15 after five years in the village.
In a statement posted to the Dumbarton Road unit's Facebook page owners Cathy and Jim note that the decision to close the shop was made due to "rising costs and rising overheads".
It reads: "Dear customers, after a lot of thought and sleepless nights Cathy and I have decided we are not going to renew our lease on the shop.
"With rising costs and rising overheads, it is unfortunately not a viable business anymore.
"It has been our outside functions that have been keeping us going, which we will continue to do, and any we have booked will of course be honoured.
"Our last day of trading will be March 15, but please note it will be cash only on that day as our paypoint and card facilities will have been removed by then.
"We would like to thank everyone that has supported us for the last five years and became friends, we will keep in touch.
"Thank you, Jim and Cathy."
Customers shared their sadness at the news in the comments.
One person said: "All the best Jim. Will miss your chats and food."
A second added: "Really sad to hear this. Best of luck to you both. Thanks for everything and all the help you gave my granny I know she appreciated you both very much."
A third commented: "Sad news will miss the laughs we had."
