Three Dumbarton community groups are being supported by a housebuilder.

Miller Homes' Community Fund invites charities and community groups to apply for funding.

Dumbarton Rock Recovery, Empowering Women Dumbarton West, and Aitkenbar Primary School are among the latest beneficiaries, each receiving £500.

To date, Miller Homes has supported 196 groups across the UK through this initiative.

Mandy Ainslie, volunteer at Dumbarton Rock Recovery, said: "We’re a small group of volunteers who have lived or living experience with addiction.

"We run a recovery hub/pantry every Friday for those in need and decided the pantry should be open to the wider community.

"We struggle to get donations of toiletries and household cleaning items, but thanks to Miller Homes’ funding we can now offer a better selection of goods to our members."

A spokesperson from Empowering Women Dumbarton West added: "We provide a safe space for women to come together, talk, and be themselves, creating a friendly setting where everyone is welcome.

"Miller Homes’ donation will support our group in learning more skills and help fund a family trip this summer.”

Councillor Clare Steel, convener of educational services at West Dunbartonshire Council, spoke of the benefits to Aitkenbar Primary School.

She said: "The pupils at Aitkenbar Primary School are grateful for the funding which will be spent on outdoor learning and play equipment for the young people to enjoy when in their playground."

Meanwhile, Louise Caldwell, sales director for Miller Homes Scotland West, said: "We are passionate about supporting the communities we're building in, and our Community Fund initiative has made a real difference since its inception."
