HOMES across Alexandria are reportedly still without electricity more than 24 hours after a power cut.

We previously reported homes in the G83 postcode had been affected by the issue which was initially reported on Monday morning.

In an updated statement SP Energy Network (SPEN) said engineers carried out an emergency shutdown at around 11.30am on Tuesday. 

It is understood this is to allow for teams to progress with repairs to SPEN’s underground cable network on Steading Drive.

Residents are being advised this shutdown may affect the electricity supply to their homes.
