The latest Hospitalwatch meeting at the Vale of Leven saw NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde help mark the 20th anniversary of the local patient interest group.
The event to celebrate Hospitalwatch saw the attendance of the group's members, local community groups, and Vale of Leven Academy students.
Melanie McColgan, Clyde sector director, said: “Over the past 20 years, the relationship between the health board and Hospitalwatch has supported us in understanding what matters most to the local community, ensuring we’re able to effectively listen to our stakeholders and that we have a dialogue that ultimately helps shape how we deliver high-quality person centred care to our patients.
“I’d like to thank and congratulate Hospitalwatch on this 20 year milestone, and I look forward to continue working with the group as part of our ongoing commitment to the Vale community.”
Jim Moohan, chairman of Hospitalwatch, said: "In 2004 and 2007, people would come to us and say, ‘I’ve heard the hospital is closing.’ We don’t hear that from the community anymore."
The meeting included discussions on the ongoing work to allow the MSK physio department to be used once again by the MSK service while enhancing accommodation for front door services.
There were also discussions on national policy guidelines on redirection and ensuring its adoption at Vale of Leven Hospital.
The next Hospitalwatch meeting is scheduled for September.
