A popular West Dunbartonshire tourist spot has been shortlisted at Scotland’s prestigious tourism and events industry awards.

SEA Life Loch Lomond is contending for top honours at the Scottish Thistle Awards.

The aquarium, based in Balloch, made the cut in two categories; Celebrating Thriving Communities and Tourism and Hospitality Employer of the Year.

The Celebrating Thriving Communities award celebrates partnerships, collaborations, and teamwork to protect and improve the environment while growing social, cultural, and economic wealth.

Steven Walker, chair of the Scottish Thistle Awards industry panel, said: "Winning a Thistle Award is a testament to excellence in the industry, allowing recipients to join a prestigious roll of honour.

"It not only raises their profile but also boosts staff morale and acknowledges their remarkable achievements.

"Advancing to the regional finals signifies that these businesses, events and individuals are among the finest in the country, demonstrating their commitment to innovation, collaboration, and sustainability."

The West of Scotland Thistle Awards regional final will be held at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow on September 19.

Winners at the regional finals will battle it out at the national Scottish Thistle Awards final in November.

Lynne Cooper, regional director of VisitScotland, said: "It is fantastic to see SEA Life Loch Lomond will once again be flying the flag for West Dunbartonshire in the regional finals of the Scottish Thistle Awards.

“As well as being a fantastic and popular attraction for the region the team are also working hard to ensure they support the local community and their own staff."
