More in-person assistance will be made available at the Vale of Leven Hospital.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Support and Information Service (SIS) has partnered with Social Security Scotland, Carers of West Dunbartonshire, Working4U, and the Defence Medical Welfare Service to improve the handling of any queries in person.
The SIS office, traditionally helping patients and staff with a variety of topics, is extending their reach by welcoming partner organisations to have an on-site presence.
These collaborations aim to make comprehensive advice and referrals to suitable services more readily available.
Audrey McElroy (CORR), SIS officer, said: "We’re delighted that we have been able to work with our partners to expand services, as the Vale is so heavily-rooted in the local community.
"By working with a broad range of organisations, referring people to the appropriate point of assistance, people get the assistance they require when needed."
On September 11, from 10am to noon, Ms McElroy and partner organisations will be stationed at the SIS office next to the hospital’s front door to answer any questions from staff, patients, and visitors.
She added: "It’s important that staff and patients and their carers know that someone will be here on a regular basis from now on.
"As there are a number of different organisations involved, we’re confident that when we are asked for advice or support, we’ll be able to help people directly or point them in the direction of the appropriate agency for further support."
The SIS office at the Vale’s main entrance will be staffed every Tuesday and Thursday between 10am and 4pm.
On other days, relevant information will remain available, alongside direct referrals to services dealing with diverse issues such as caring for relatives, money advice, mental health support and healthy lifestyle advice.
