Emergency services were spotted at the River Leven in the early hours of the morning after reports of a disturbance.
Police Scotland were called to reports of a man causing a disturbance on Stirling Street in Renton at around 2.45am on Wednesday, September 4.
Officers are now attempting to trace the man after he ran away from police.
Greenock and Helensburgh Coastguard were seen in attendance at the River Leven an hour later at 3.50am.
The RNLI's inshore lifeboat from Helensburgh also attended. No injuries have been reported.
Enquiries are now ongoing to trace the man.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.45am on Wednesday, September 4 2024, were called to a report of a man causing a disturbance in the Stirling Street area of Renton.
“Officers attended, however, the man made off from police and enquiries are ongoing to trace him.
“There were no reports of any injuries.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 0266 of Wednesday, September, 42024.”
An HM Coastguard UK spokesperson said: "Greenock and Helensburgh Coastguard Rescue Teams assisted Police Scotland with a reported incident at the River Leven, Renton, at about 3.50am on 4 September. The RNLI's inshore lifeboat from Helensburgh also attended."
