Organisers of upcoming street performances in West Dunbartonshire are urging local dancers to apply to join their night time performance parade called STRUT. 

Visual arts companies Megahertz and Clifftop Projects are calling dancers of all styles to apply to take part in filling the streets of with joyful movement.

Organisers are looking for five local dancers to perform their own routines along streets in Dumbarton Town Centre on November 7 and Faifley, Clydebank the following night. 

STRUT performances are a celebration of dance and community, parades are full of locals dancing to dramatic lighting, music and stunning projections on buildings making the local area truly part of the event.

Lottie Barker, Artistic Director of Clifftop Projects said: “It is always such a joy hosting performances in West Dunbartonshire for people to experience the arts in new and exciting ways. 

“STRUT will showcase local talent with the streets we call home as the stage, and I cannot wait to be out dancing with everyone.”

Bex Anson and Dav Bernard, founders of Megahertz said: “We’ve been wanting to bring STRUT to Dumbarton and Clydebank for some time and can’t wait to see these streets alive with dance.”

These events have previously taken place in Glasgow and Paisley mixing all styles of dance including Bhangra, Salsa, Romani, Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, Northern Soul and Contemporary. 

Applications are now open and remain so until September 6. They are exclusively open to people who live or have grown up across the wider West Dunbartonshire area, work there or have family or friends in the area. 

It is a paid opportunity and is open to all, whether it’s someone trying it out for the first time or a professional dancer.
