A MAN who claimed to drink daily told social workers he didn't have a problem, a court has heard.
Darren Jones, of McDonald Drive, Irvine, appeared in court from custody.
He had been locked up since he pleaded guilty in September to acting in an aggressive manner, repeatedly shouting, swearing and uttering offensive remarks to cops.
The crime took place on September 8 in Dumbarton High Street.
It was aggravated by prejudice related to disability. He was on bail from Ayr Sheriff Court on October 4, 2023 and was on an undertaking to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court just days after his Dumbarton crime.
At Dumbarton Sheriff Court on October 22, Sheriff Maxwell Hendry noted that the 38-year-old consumed alcohol daily, but he had told social workers it was not an issue.
He told the man he would have to put in effort if he wanted to change the way he had been living his life.
The sheriff imposed a community payback order with 18 months supervision by social workers. He must attend counselling or treatment for alcohol as they direct.
Jones must also do 125 hours of unpaid work in the community within a year.
He was warned that if breached the order, there might be no other option other than prison.
