A food hub is asking their local community to help out as they deal with funding shortages.

Renton Community Food Hub had run out of funding and had volunteers donating their own money before extra funds were secured to keep them open till Christmas.

John volunteers at the hub located in Renton Trinity Church and helps deliver hot meals as well as essentials to those struggling in the community.

He said: "We are getting busier every week now as more people are realising that we are here.

"We received funding and we have gone through it. Every week we spend over £100 stocking up on supplies.

"We get in Pot Noodles some fresh food, long life milk and we have been relying on donations from people.

"It’s getting close to Christmas and it is getting busier and we are going through more food.

"It's the cost of living and everybody's struggling."

The group have managed to raffle off Halloween gifts and is planning a similar event for Christmas this year but is preparing for hard times.

John added: "We have people coming in who had days without food and we have been relying on charity, some of us have put our own money in.

"We just keep this place running because a lot of people say if we weren’t here they wouldn’t know where to go."
