A community event to encourage adult learning is due to take place tomorrow after the group receives lottery funding.

The West Dunbartonshire Learners' Voice, is a group of volunteers who work to raise awareness of the benefits of adult learning.

After receiving £4000 in National Lottery funding the group say they are 'delighted' to host people in St Patrick's Church Hall on Wednesday, November 6 from 11am to 2pm.

A host of local learning providers and organisations have been invited to the event including West College Scotland and Will Quinn, policy team leader for Community Learning & Development for the Scottish Government.

The group also works with West Dunbartonshire Council Working4U who will provide information and support on new courses, training opportunities, benefit advice and employment support.

A spokesperson for the group said: "We really wanted to create an event that was a celebration of all the community learners who are involved in adult learning locally.

"On the day we will ask learners their opinions on adult learning and what support they need to further their learning.

"We believe that adult learning is life-changing and lifelong and used the day to encourage people to become members of the West Dunbartonshire Learners Voice as we continue to raise the profile of adult learning and the benefits it brings to the individuals and communities we live in. "
