Gary Goldsmith is just one of the 13 famous faces who entered the Celebrity Big Brother house last night (March 4) but he is already in danger of facing the first public eviction.

Fellow housemate Sharon Osbourne (with the help of Louis Walsh) had to choose three celebrities who made the “worst first impression” to be put in the “danger zone” as part of a secret mission.

In the end, Sharon chose Ibiza Weekender’s David Potts and British TV presenter Zeze Millz to join Gary at risk of elimination this week.

But who is he and what are his connections to the royal family? Let’s find out.

Who is Celebrity Big Brother star Gary Goldsmith?

Gary is the uncle of the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton as well as her siblings Pippa and James – he is the brother of her mother, Carole.

The future Queen's relative is a London-based businessman, commentator and podcast host who “made his money” in IT and recruitment, reports Sky News.

Gary said he hopes to show his “fun, caring and devilish” side on the ITV reality show and not the “villain” he is portrayed as.

The 58-year-old said he was using the experience to give the public an insight into who he is.

He commented: “We all like to be liked; this is a great opportunity to show anyone who cares the ‘real me’, the fun, caring and devilish ‘me’, not the villain I’m often portrayed in the press.

“Also, as I fast approach 60, I want to say ‘yes’ to most things put in front of me.”

His Celebrity Big Brother appearance comes after a public court case in 2017, which saw him fined and given a community order after admitting he assaulted his wife in a drunken argument in which she accused him of taking drugs.

Gary, who compared his personality to a “toddler on sugar”, said that he will need a lot of entertaining during his time on the show.

“I don’t scare easily, and I love a challenge, but this is so far out of my comfort zone I am nervous about the unknown, and if I’m honest, I’m nervous about myself,” he added.

“I don’t take instruction or being controlled very well.”

The reality TV star said he would find it difficult to live with “rude, insensitive or mean people”, singling out former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Katie Hopkins as someone who would be a “challenge”.

He said he had packed a “sense of humour” and an “extra bag of patience and earplugs”.

Gary explained that he is going to be “the best version of me” on the show.
