Dumbarton have released a statement amid speculation the club is set to go into "administration".
The Sons, who are currently eighth in Scottish League One, will also reportedly be hit with a huge points deduction which would put them at the bottom of the table.
This is according to the Scottish Sun, who claim that the cash-strapped club's future will now be in the hands of the administrators after last-minute hopes of investment were dashed on Monday, October 18.
It comes after fellow third-tier side Inverness faced a similar punishment earlier this season after finding themselves in financial trouble.
The report also states that "redundancies in the playing squad are not expected due to its small size and that manager Stevie Farrell could be asked to stay on and help the team try and battle against relegation".

A statement on the official club Facebook read: "We want to acknowledge the reports on varying media outlets tonight and understand it's not the news that people wanted."
A further update is expected later on today.
